Westerville City Schools, Walnut Springs Middle School

BYV’s Arts Integration Program partners with a classroom teacher to collaborate in designing curricula that engages students creatively through performance-based workshops. Over the course of several weeks, the youth participants will engage in community building and trust building activities, acting exercises and writing. Our program is customizable based on the needs and interests of each school and classroom. Similar to the Summer Project, the student ensemble will create their own original art piece with the potential to perform or display for the school and surrounding community.

The opportunity for my students to work with Ms. Carmel and Brave Young Voices has been invaluable. Students learn to respect themselves, their peers, and their communities through this program, and learn to lift up their voices and be heard. So many students have commented that they feel like the program has made them better people. I am deeply grateful to have had the opportunity to bring and continue to bring this program to my classes. We love BYV!

St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church

Brave Young Voices is a program of St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church. We share the missional goals of creating sustainable, inclusive spaces to engage our community. Father Joseph Kovitch and the St. Matthew’s community have supported BYV with incredible dedication, fevor, and love.

I love the collaboration of reimagining new ways of being Church in the world! I have been ordained for 25 years and have served in many ministry and mission environments, both ecumenically and interfaith. I love the arts and feel that art makes community. Brave Young Voices inspires me and gives me hope. Through the hard work of Carmel, her team, and the amazing voices of these young actors, we all can be the change that we want to see in the world. I am blessed to serve as the priest of St. Matthew’s Episcopal Community, a safe and inclusive space for all who seek belonging, and we are blessed to be a sponsor of the Brave Young Voices, as they exemplify our greatest hope.

Good Medicine Productions

Good Medicine Productions is our sister-organization. The administrative and artistic staff of both organizations work together providing feedback and support. They are united in their common belief in the transformative power of art.

Good Medicine Productions creates theater that delights the soul so it makes sense that Brave Young Voices is our sister organization - an inspiring youth theater program that not only delights the soul of its audience, but more importantly the young artists who share their unique, diverse voices in such creative ways. And that is certainly good medicine for all.
